We met P&A at the Narbonne train station yesterday. We got a good start to the next few days of fun with dinner at St Martin D'Auberge last night and a trip to Lagrasse Abbaye today.

Lastours Four Castle Hike
Took a trip up into the Black Mountains and visited Lastours and the four castles above the village. Kind of scary walking around, it was really windy with narrow walkways and a long way down.

Pedestals Are For Climbing
Once and awhile you just gotta be you, Pam was very grateful to those clever Romans for leaving this pedestal to sing from. The church, and pedestal, are both within the Clos Centeilles winery just north of Siran. Cécile Domergue, the young lady we met at last week's food and wine event, and her mother both run the operation. Cécile toured us around and let us taste some exceptional wines. We think she may be a good example of the new wave of winemakers in France. Working a bit on the edge, not always following the rules but respecting wine heritage at the same time.
The rest of the photos are from hikes, biking a "rail to trail" path, note the abandoned rail station, and and along the Canal du Midi.

France Wildlife Series
It can pretty hot here so afternoons are serious siesta time. A good time to do something fun inside. Sketching is becoming an interest of mine so I'm playing around with this series more for practice than anything else. They are pretty corney but I had fun putting them together. Hope you like them!
You Just Never Know...
Like anywhere, when you get out and about you never know what you'll see. A concert in a Roman chapel, grape harvesting , a friendly mule or a rainbow over your toes...
Also we've been doing everything we can to taste the area wines while avoiding the odd forest fire. Looks like BC isn't the only place having that problem.

Wine and Food - They Go Together So Well
A town nearby hosted a wine and food festival last weekend and we were able to try it out. It was in Biz-Minervois, about 15 minutes from Beaufort. We went on opening night, Saturday and it was very popular. About $20 each to get in (the whole central village was the venue) and for that you had lots of choices for dinner, all the wine you wanted to taste and music. We stayed for about three hours and enjoyed every minute, thanks for a great night out Biz-Minervois!!
